3M, a name long associated with innovative products for automotive professionals, has been designing, making and marketing unique solutions that have helped automotive professionals accomplish their tasks easier and faster for more than nine decades. 3M's automotive history dates back to the company’s beginning. Very few companies can claim a nearly 100-year relationship with the same customers, but this is how long 3M has served the automotive industry. It began in 1914, when 3M’s Three-M-ite abrasive cloth proved to be the superior product for finishing metal. Every car maker needed miles of sandpaper to smooth wooden & metal parts and to refine body finishes. Seven years later, in 1921, 3M introduced another innovation, the Wetordry sandpaper, the first waterproof sandpaper. And so began 3M’s tryst with the automotive industry.

3M Corporation was established in 1902 and its first sale to the automotive industry was made in 1916 when it introduced its revolutionary 3M™ Wetordry™ Abrasive. Abrasives were followed by masking tapes invented by 3M in 1926 to help paint shops achieve razor-sharp two-tone paint jobs. In the decades that followed, 3M introduced dozens of other innovative automotive products.3M Automotive, like its parent company, is a transnational organization and operates in over 60 countries around the globe.

3M Automotive Aftermarket Division’s collision repair business in India provides a comprehensive range of solutions (except paint) to Body Shops and Service Shops.
