3M Digital Signage launches “Digital Signage ‘Out-of-the-Box’

3M Digital Signage has announced the launch of a ‘Ready-to-Go’ Digital Signage Media Player based on Thin-Client Technology. Digital Signage ‘Out-of-the-box’ is ideal for installation in restaurants, corporate lobbies, hotel receptions and other similar single-screen applications. The low-cost media player, which is pre-loaded and configured with our Solo and Solo Lite software, enables set-up of a Digital Signage Screen without any complications of a fully-blown network implementation.
The S-1507 model is a small-form factor Thin-Client running with the 3M SOLO Edition with 512KB RAM and 1 GB Flash Memory. The SL-1507 model is pre-loaded and configured with the simple and easy-to-use SOLO Lite edition.
The 3M Ready-To-Go Media Player will be sold through 3M Channel partners across the country and will be supported with on-site installation, training and support by trained authorized partners.

3M Digital Signage powers GPS-enabled Digital Signage.

3M Digital Signage has completed a pilot test of a GPS-enabled system which will power LCD Screens in Volvo buses in Bangalore. The GPS module constantly tracks the position of the bus and will enable dynamic changes to content based on the location. The information include the current location (area) and the upcoming bus stops. Vyoma Technologies which has secured the advertising rights for over 23 Volvo buses of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation will roll this out by the end of March 2008.

3M Digital Signage powers Dual-Screen Railway Ticketing Screens.

The Indian Railways is one the world’s largest and busiest railway networks in the world which transport about 16 million passengers daily. 3M Digital Signage has provided a customized ‘infotainment’ network which spans over 100 screens in the Passenger Reservation Counters of South Western Railways. LCD screens placed in front of the booking windows show advertisements and public service messages. The bottom half of the screens shows Live Ticketing information the passenger which includes the Train Name, Train Number, Departure and Destination Information and the Fare. Previously, Passengers could have no way of seeing the booking clerks screen but with 3M’s customized Terminal Emulation Software, the passenger can see selected fields and confirm the information prior to final booking. This prevents errors, and also fraud by touts.

3M Commercial Graphics at In-Store Asia 2008

The 4th Edition of In-Store Asia was held 31st Jan - 2nd Feb
2008 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (East), Mumbai. 3M Commerical
Graphics Division showcased Digital Signage Solutions for Retail Applications.
The highlight was a 3-screen video-wall which has 3M’s Digital Menu Board
solution for Wuick Service Restaurants. The Digital Menu board solution is
an intuitive, user-friendly application which allows Menu items to be displayed
based on the time of day and features ‘On-the-Fly’ editing options. The 3-screen
landscape oriented displays are powered by a single media player using a quad-output
card which results in significant reduction in hardware costs.
