Single Pair Protection plugs (SPP) SOR PU are designed to be used with STG 2000 modules, providing protection to individual copper pairs of most voice & data and fixed & wireless network applications. These plugs protect against high voltage surge caused by lightning - the excessive current generated by induction or direct contact with power lines.

SPP increases flexibility in network management, enabling individual separation for replacement of faulty lines without disturbing adjacent working lines.

Function:
SOR PU SPP is a five-pin terminal device with a three-pole gas discharge tube (GDT) and fail-safe feature. In the event of a voltage surge due to lightning, ionization of gas takes place inside the GDT, which in turn drains the high voltage. In case the residual current still persists, the fail-safe in the three-pole GDT melts and drains the current to the ground.
